    Enduro Mediterraneo. The Pelion race

The first race series of the Enduro Mediterraneo has ended. With three races for 2014, the ground has been prepared to welcome this new race format to the greek mountainbike scene.Inline images 2 Despite the harsh conditions through which these races have been organized, the main organizators and all the local coordinators ( www.eviatours.com / Mountain Active / www.montisordo.gr ) managed to unite their power, setting a beautiful combination of destinations all around Greece, which either were known to the public before, or now became basic locations for Enduro mountainbiking in Greece and the Balkans.

    The Pelion race

The maiden voyage of the trails of Pelion left the best impressions to all the riders, with the only setback of the alteration of the race track on Sunday due to intense weather conditions on Saturday night. The scenery was unique, with the start next to the sea, providing the riders with the opportunity to enjoy views of the Pagasitic gulf from above. The trails were really demanding at some points, and even the Prologue Stage and the Liason Stages were as enjoyable as the Special Stages. The ones that were not lucky were the riders who started first, as many leafs had fallen on the tracks from Saturday’s storm making the trail very slippery.

    The Xanthi race has finished

The Xanthi race has finished with great success, leaving the best impressions to Greek riders, and also all the foreign participants. The trails in Xanthi enchanted the riders and the weather provided many changes to the terrain during the weekend.

127 participants registered for the race from 5 countries such as Germany, Italy, France, Bulgaria and of course Greece. We are so delighted that Enduro Mediterraneo is becoming more international thus showing us the way we should go from now on. Despite the 127 registered participants, 105 riders started at PS1 and only 99 riders managed to finish all 4 stages.

Times between special stages were a little bit tight causing some delay on the schedule but this is something we will have fixed by next years race in Xanthi. Forbiden uplift was noticed by the race coordinators on practice day and riders were given a warning and such behaviour was not repeated during race day. We are determined to keep Enduro spirit intact therefore enforceing strict penalty rules in next races. Читать далее

    Enduro Mediterraneo

Снова новости из солнечной Греции. Но, не от Алексиоса. )) От Александроса.

Enduro is gaining its rightful place in the hearts of riders. Less than six months after the successful organization of the first Enduro race in Greece, Enduro Mediterraneo has launched three races all overr Greece, in Xanthi, Dirfi and Pelion in the form of a Cup. As a pretext, the local coordinators of the Grand Final in Pelion organized a weekend with 4 different Enduro routes, in order for riders to discover the paths which have been cleared recently, to have fun and enjoy the trails on a ride without the stress of race timing. They started to gather on the Friday for the night ride. Up to the moment they left Pelion, they covered over 80 km on trails, paths and dirt roads . On Saturday and Monday there was an uplift to Milies and Ag. Giorgios respectively while on other days they followed trails along the coast of central Pelion. The entries exceeded all expectations — 50 cyclists and their supporters spent the weekend in central Pelion. The age range was large with the youngest rider 18 and the oldest 58 years old. The event was honored by the presence of the champion and Downhill cup winner Dimitris Economou and other great riders from the world of Downhill and Cross Country. But the most important fact is that we saw new riders testing their skills in demanding trails, enjoying them, improving their technique, discovering an amazing place and returning home without any problems or injuries. Activities such as hiking, riding the traditional train of Pelion and horse riding were also organized for other attendants & visitors. In retrospect, everyone ended up to be a winner, the local community and entrepreneurs caught a new glimpse of the «window of opportunity” for alternative tourism. The event was embraced by everyone and now they have the urge to do greater things and above all cyclists experienced the mythical mountain of Pelion, enjoyed their stay and the routes, appreciated the work done on the trails and renewed their appointment in Pelion for October for the Grand Final…
